Diatoms

The Diatom Home Page. This website is based at the University of Indiana, USA, and is a central resource for those interested in, or doing research on, diatoms and related algae. The site contains information of general interest to diatomists and other phycologists along with links to other internet resources.

The Marine Diatom Index. A british site with the ambition to become a virtual photo library - complete with descriptions, ecology, distributions, references and links to other sites.

Xavier Crosta's Family Album. Many of the diatoms I find in my own samples are nicely depictured here.

Funding and study setting

The Norwegian Polar Institute. The central norwegian institution in polar research, mapping and administration. My host.

The University of Tromsoe, Faculty of Science. My connection to the university.

VISTA - a research cooperation between the Norwegian Science Academy and Statoil. The Climate Archive research is an attempt to sort out the human component of the climate changes we see today. My source of funding for this research. The sites are in norwegian.
